Dear Parents 

World Book Day 

World Book Day was very successful again this year thanks to Miss Valentine, Mrs McNair and the Reading Ambassadors who came up with the idea to link World Book Day to the Northampton shoe industry. The children obviously had a lot of fun with their families making the wonderful creations for the exhibition. I was taken aback when I walked into the packed exhibition hall, there was such an amazing buzz! Everyone toured around looking at each other’s eye-catching shoe boxes and shoes and finding out which book had inspired them.  

The twinning sessions were great in the afternoon when the children shared the boxes, shoes and stories with their partner classes.   

A big thank you to our local residents, who brought in their favourite books to share with the children.  They were all getting on and having a lovely time.  We would like to encourage our local residents to pop into school and read with the children or share their gardening or creative skills etc. at any time – you are always welcome. The children gain so much from your wealth of experience and kindness and it is a rewarding experience all round.  

One-Way System  

Please remember to use the one-way system at all times – some people from family breakfast nipped the wrong way round to class this morning!!  Remember at home time as well.  Thank you. 

Netball Match Report from Miss Peal: 

Well done Year 6 netball team who played against six other schools this week in a tournament.  It was great to see the girls working as a team, trying out different positions and representing Bridgewater so well.  They all received gold medals – well done everyone! 

Science Week 

We are looking forward to Science Week next week based on the theme of ‘Time’. Mrs Hallett has been preparing lots of exciting investigations with the science research team in school and our science ambassadors.
