Nature walks

This week in Science, Year 1 went on nature walks where the children looked for signs of Spring and also went on some tree hunts!

We had learnt about the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees. The children realised that if they spotted pine cones, they were probably near an evergreen tree!

We were also very excited to see blossom beginning to grow and realised that this meant these trees were deciduous!

Although the weather was a bit dull we were also able to spot signs of Spring such as daffodils. The children also applied their knowledge of wild and garden plants when looking at the difference between the plants on the green and in residents’ front gardens.

There is nothing like learning in the outdoors!
