Learning across the curriculum

This week, Year 1 Maths focus has been on multiples of 2s, 5s and 10s. The children spent the first part of the week exploring these numbers through access of the maths continuous provision. They were able to identify the different principles of 2s, 5s and 10s. Also, they were able to count, read, and write these multiple numerals.

During the English lessons, the children had the opportunity to extend their knowledge further by gathering a wide range of facts on elephants and sea horses. From the information gathered, the children were able to confidently internalize the fact through the use of text map. Moreover, the children are beginning to write different fact statements and extend their sentences further through the use of conjunctions.

The children had the opportunity to experience yoga session through a qualified yoga instructor during the PE lesson. The session involved the children adopting specific body postures and physical and mental exercise.
