Fire Brigade visit.

On Tuesday 31st October, Early Years had some very exciting visitors. Blue Watch Moulton Fire brigade arrived in the afternoon to talk to the children about keeping safe on Bonfire Night as well as when near water, fire and ice. Watch Manager Douglas talked to us about the number we need to call in an emergency and showed the children the firefighters uniform. The children had the opportunity to ask lots of questions and were told about how firefighters tackle real fires.

The fun continued outside as the children eagerly queued up to have a chance to look around ‘Zeus’ the fire engine. The fire fighters showed the children all the equipment and explained what it is used for. They were especially impressed with the ladder which is the longest of all the engines in their crew. Everyone had the chance to climb up and sit inside the engine, which was so high up it took a while to get down again. Finally the children were invited to turn on a real fire hose. The water came out so fast and powerfully, we were surprised at how far it were able to reach, narrowly missing the kitchen staff who were walking nearby!

We are very grateful to Blue Watch Moulton Fire brigade for such a fun and informative visit.
